Aluminium and GRP Anti Slip Stair Nosing
- Ex Tax: £9.06
If you are looking for a product that is a little less industrial in appearance, our aluminium and GRP anti-slip stair nosing is a great alternative. As well as providing a highly visual aid to stairs, it offers excellent grip making it suitable for all types of staircases whether it’s in a warehouse, factory or other commercial premises.
The surface of the product is a powder coated aluminium with a GRP anti-slip insert making the product resistant to impact and corrosion. Yellow nosing creates the ultimate visual aid and it has an LRV of 81 and is also fully DDA compliant with a 55mm by 55mm profile. The nosing is also very easy to install and can be secured to the stairs with mechanical fittings and can be installed onto almost any type of substrate.
Our standard anti-slip GRP stair nosing fixing kit is recommended for installation of the aluminium anti slip GRP stair nosing. One fixing kit will cover an area of 5 x 3000mm of nosing for the stairs.
It is important that the surface is clean, dry and free from any loose material or dust that can prevent the flooring from sticking properly to the surface. Any holes or defects in the surface of the floor should be repaired to leave a smooth and even surface area. Take each stair nosing and dry fit to make sure that they are adequate for the surface area. They should sit on the stairs completely flat. You can trim them to fit if you need to and you can use either a skill saw with a 4mm diamond blade or an angle grinder with a 1mm blade depending on your specific requirements. Make sure that you wear suitable protective gloves and goggles while cutting the material.
Fixing Kit Application
Once you have all of the stair nosings in place, you can now begin to secure them to the surface using our dedicated fixing kit. Depending on the conditions of the substrate, apply a 6mm bead of gap filling adhesive around the edge of the stair nosings, approximately 15mm from the edge. Where the nosing is being fitted to carpet or other material, this isn’t required, and you can apply the adhesive instead using a skeleton gun.
Once the adhesive has been applied, press the panel firmly onto the substrate to ensure that the adhesive is evenly transferred across the surface of the panel. It will take approximately an hour for the adhesive to form a strong bond between the substrate and the nosing.
Two holes should be drilled on each side of the stair nosing. The first of these holes should be 15mm from the edge. When working with larger nosings, you may need to have an additional fixing point at the centre of the tread. It is recommended that you pre-drill the holes before drilling into the substrate.
