Heavy Duty GRP Anti Slip Stair Nosings
- Ex Tax: £9.95
Stairways can experience some of the most significant wear and tear in the workplace, even more so in busy work environments. With our heavy duty, GRP anti-slip stair nosings, you will not only help keep your staff safe from slipping but it will create a non-slip surface that can withstand continuous usage. The stair nosings that we provide are available in two grit grades. Fine grit is suitable for application indoors and coarse grit is best suited to external applications. To give the product its strength and durability, the surface of the nosing has been coated with a ceramic grit to create the ultimate anti-slip surface. The ceramic grit ranks at level 9 on the MOH hardness scale so it is suitable for use in the most demanding of environments.
When it comes to high traffic or demanding environments, it is important that the nosings are able to withstand physical stresses, changes in temperature and general wear and tear over the long term. Our products can withstand all of these things and they won’t warp, stretch or swell. The nosings have high contrasting colours which aid visibility and they feature a chamfered back edge to offer additional security.
Easy to install, you can simply drill the product down with mechanical fixings and they offer so much versatility, working well with almost any substrate. 10 year guarantee is also available against any breakage when correctly installed.
For best results, we recommend that you purchase our heavy duty anti slip GRP stair nosing fixing kit to install your nosings to the highest standard. A fixing kit will be sufficient to fit 5 x 3000mm of stair nosing.
Good preparation can make all the difference and it’s important to ensure that the installation process is undertaken in the right way. The first step in the process is to prepare the floor by ensuring that it is free from debris, clean and dry. It should also be smooth and even so any bumps or holes should be filled or sanded.
Each stair nosing should be carefully dry fitted first to make sure that they work well for the space they are required, and they sit properly on the surface. If needed, you can always trim any excess to make sure they fit properly. If you do cut any of the nosings to size, make sure that you use the right tools. Either a skill saw with a 4mm diamond blade or an angle grinder with a 1mm blade should work well, and don’t forget to wear suitable gloves and goggles while cutting the material.
Fixing Kit Application
Take the fixing kit and apply a 6mm bead (depending on the condition of the substrate, this may be more or less) of high strength gap filling adhesive around the edge of the nosings, approximately 15mm from the edge. Where the nosings are being fitted to carpet or other material you don’t need to apply the adhesive. Application of the adhesive is recommended using a skeleton gun.
Quickly press the panel to the substrate to ensure that the adhesive transfers fully. A slight elevation of between 1mm and 1.5mm will occur depending on the size of the bead that you used. It will take approximately an hour for a firm bond to be created and the nosings will be securely in place.
On each side of the stair nosing, drill two holes, approximately 15mm from each edge. You may need to include additional fixing points in the centre of the tread if you are working with a larger nosing. It is recommended that you pre drill the holes before you drill into the substrate.
