GRP Anti Slip Stair Nosing
- Ex Tax: £5.50
A quick, easy and simple system which can be installed in a few simple steps and offers a comprehensive visual aid that is hard wearing and suitable for a variety of commercial environments. It is a cost effective yet highly durable product.
Manufactured from high quality fibreglass GRP our standard nosings are designed to withstand long term use. As they age, they will not warp, stretch or swell and they can resist a range of temperatures and other physical stresses typical of busy commercial operations, whether it’s a warehouse, factory or distribution centre.
The top layer of the nosing has been coated with a silicon quartz grit which gives the product its anti-slip properties and it offers a high level of grip which can enhance safety in areas such as stairs. It also features a high contrast colour which increases visibility and the chamfered back edge also adds to the safety element of the product. The 55mm x 55mm option also helps with building regulations and DDA compliance.
Easy to install, the process is completed by drilling down the product with mechanical fittings and it offers such incredible flexibility that it can be installed on almost any substrate.
The standard GRP anti-slip stair nosing also comes with a 5 year guarantee against breakage.
The standard anti-slip GRP stair nosing can be installed very quickly, and we recommend for the best results you use our dedicated anti-slip GRP stair nosing fixing kit. A fixing kit will cover 5 x 3000mm of stair nosing.
The surface should be adequately prepared to ensure that the nosing is sufficiently bonded to the substrate. Make sure the surface is clean and clear from any debris. It should also be dry too. Where there are any defects to the surface that could affect how well the adhesive sticks to the surface, correct these either by filling or sanding the surface.
When the surface is sufficiently prepared, dry fit each of the stair nosings, making sure that they are as flat as possible and fit freely to the surface. If needed you can trim them to achieve a more uniform appearance. Ideally you should use a 4mm diamond blade skill saw or a 1mm blade angle grinder. Whichever cutting tool you use, make sure that goggles and gloves are worn.
Fixing Kit Application
Take the high strength gap filling adhesive and apply a 6mm bead around the edge of the stair nosing roughly around 15mm from the edge of the material. Adhesives aren’t needed if you are fitting the nosing to material such as carpet. Where adhesive is used, application should be completed using a skeleton gun to achieve the best results.
Once the adhesive has been applied, press each of the nosings onto the substrate to achieve an even and consistent transfer of adhesive. Once applied to the surface, a firm bond will form around an hour after application.
To complete the installation process, drill two holes on either side of the stair nosing approximately 15mm from the edge. If you are fitting a larger nosing, you may want to add an additional fixing point at the centre to offer extra strength.
