Our standard GRP anti-slip stair tread cover is designed to offer maximum visibility for your stairs in a commercial environment. They are quick, simple and easy to install and incredibly durable. The 55mm contrasting nosing also ensures that they are fully DDA and building regulations compliant.

The material used to manufacture the tread covers is fibreglass GRP and this is created using a pultrusion process. The quality of the tread cover is high, and it won’t warp, swell or stretch, even after prolonged use and general wear and tear. It is also designed to withstand physical stresses and changes in temperature. The material is further strengthened with a strong silicon quartz grit which gives it the anti-slip properties, increasing safety on stairs.

The installation process is easy and is completed by drilling down the product using mechanical fittings. It can also work with a variety of substrates, so it offers incredible flexibility.

The anti-slip stair tread cover comes with a 3 year guarantee against breakage.

Using our stair tread cover fixing kit, you can install our standard anti-slip stair tread covers quickly. A fixing kit will cover 3 metres of stair tread cover.

Measuring

To accurately measure the stairs, we advise that you follow the steps outlined in the diagram in Image 4.

Preparation

Remove any debris from the surface and make sure it is clean and dry. If there are any defects in the surface these will need to be corrected before you can install the tread cover.

When the surface is in an acceptable condition, dry fit the stair tread covers, making sure that they fit well over the surface and they are as flat as possible on the surface. If you need to, they can be trimmed as required. If you need to use a cutting tool to trim the material, we recommend that you use either a 4mm diamond blade skill saw or a 1mm blade angle grinder. Whichever cutting tool that you use, make sure that you wear suitable protective clothing such as goggles and gloves.

Fixing Kit Application

The first stage in the application process is to apply a 6mm bead of high strength, gap filling adhesive around the perimeter of the stair tread covers, approximately 25mm from the edge. From the bottom left corner, apply the adhesive at an angle around 200mm across and then move downwards to create a peak and trough pattern. Continue this until the entire surface of the tread cover is filled with adhesive. Use a skeleton gun for best results.

Take the tread cover and apply to the substrate ensuring sufficient transfer of the glue. Press down firmly and a bond will be achieved in about an hour.

To finish off the installation, two holes will need to be drilled on each side of the stair tread cover. The first of these holes should be made 60mm from the back edge and 50mm from the side. The second hole should be 50mm from the side and 60mm from the edge. Where longer treads are being installed, you may find it beneficial to add another fixing point towards the centre of the tread cover.
