Heavy Duty GRP Anti Slip Landing Cover
- Ex Tax: £107.00
There are certain industries and commercial premises where heavy duty products are a necessity and that’s why we offer a heavy-duty GRP anti slip landing cover. Suitable for application on walkways, balconies and landings to enhance safety and prevent employees or visitors slipping when surfaces become wet or contaminated. As this product is manufactured for heavy duty use, it can be applied in walkways, balconies and landings and is suitable for use indoors and outdoors. Our Heavy Duty GRP landing covers are also resistant to many chemicals such as oils and grease, making them ideal in manufacturing environments. The 55mm nosing on some of the options makes them fully compliant with DDA and building regulations.
Made from fibreglass GRP, the landing covers are manufactured using a pultrusion process and they are tough, durable and resistant to everyday wear and tear. They can also resist warping, swelling or stretching, even in extremes of temperature or under other physical stress. The landing cover features a ceramic grit which ranks at level 9 on the MOH hardness scale and it offers anti-slip features that can withstand the heaviest of traffic. It also has a long lifespan so you know that it will last for many years and comes with a 10 year guarantee against breakage when properly installed.. Easy to install, the product can be fixed to any substrate using mechanical fixings and will remain in place for the long term.
To deliver the best results we advise that you install the anti-slip GRP stair landing cover with our flat sheets and landing covers fixing kit. Using this toolkit, you can install the landing covers with ease. One kit will be enough to work with 2400mm by 1200mm of landing cover.
Before you fix any of the landing covers to the surface of the stairs, the substrate should be clean, dry and free from defects. Where there are any holes or unevenness in the surface of the stair, these should be addressed, either by filling holes or sanding away bumps for best results. Patch repair concrete can be undertaken with a step edge repair kit.
Once the surface is in good condition, each section of landing cover should be dry fitted to make sure that they sit properly, and they are flat to the surface. Trim any excess to make each piece fit neatly either using a 4mm diamond blade skill saw or a 1mm blade angle grinder. Be careful when trimming any pieces and make sure that you wear suitable goggles and gloves.
Fixing Kit Application
The substrate will determine the amount of beading that you will need to apply, but the recommendation is to use a 6mm bead of high strength, gap filling adhesive around the edge of the stair tread cover section on the landing cover. Ensure that the adhesive is applied at least 25mm from the edge. Repeat this process with the flat sheet section of the landing cover.
Begin at the bottom left of the tread section, move up at an angle, around 200mm across should work well and then back down again at a sharp angle to create a peak and trough pattern. Repeat this until you reach the end of the material. Repeat for the flat sheet landing cover.
Once applied, press the landing cover firmly onto the substrate to ensure that the adhesive is thoroughly distributed and transferred. Depending on the size of the bead that you used, this will create an elevation of between 1mm and 1.5mm. In an hour, a firm bond will be achieved, and the landing cover will be firmly fixed in place.
Holes should then be drilled at 300mm intervals, 15mm from the edge. Depending on the width of the panel you may need to include several fixing points 600mm from the middle of the panels. The application surface will vary depending on the environment so you may need to use additional fixings. Furthermore, if either side of the panel is adjoined with a wall or edge, you will need to leave a 5mm expansion gap which can be filled with high modulus mastic.
