Industrial GRP Anti Slip Stair Tread Cover
- Ex Tax: £45.00
An anti-slip stair tread cover designed specifically for areas with high footfall and traffic such as public spaces like bus stations, subway stations, car parks and railway stations. The contrasting, 55mm nosing also makes them DDA and building regulations compliant, ideal for installation in commercial or industrial premises. An industrial, hard wearing product that is made from aluminium reinforced fibreglass GRP, offering a product that is tough, durable and resistant to warping, swelling or stretching. It can also withstand changes in temperature or physical stresses. All of these features combined create a product that is almost indestructible.
Unique ceramic grit is used to coat the tread cover, making it a hard wearing, strong and long-lasting product. It also offers incredible levels of anti-slip making it perfect for an industrial application. Suitable for extreme traffic and industrial environments. The tread covers are also chemical resistant, so they are suitable for use in the most hazardous work environments.
The stair tread covers are easy to install which can be achieved by using mechanical fixings on almost any type of surface.
All stair tread covers in this range are provided with a 15-year guarantee against breakage.
It is recommended that you use our stair tread fixing kits to install the anti-slip stair tread covers, making the process quicker and easier. A fixing kit will cover three metres of stair tread cover.
Accurate measurement of the surface area to be covered is important and we have provided easy instructions in Image 4.
The installation will work much better if you adequately prepare the surface and it will increase the longevity of the product too. Before fitting any of the stair tread, make sure the surface underneath is clean, dry and free from debris. It should also be smooth and free from any holes, chips or bumps. Repair the surface as needed to create an even finish.
Take each of the stair treads that you would like to install and dry fit them to the stairs to make sure that they fit properly. They should be flat on the surface and fit neatly onto the surface. You may need to trim any excess to achieve a better fit. Ideally you should use a skill saw with a 4mm diamond blade or an angle grinder with a 1mm blade if you wish to trim any of the material. It is also advised that you wear suitable gloves and goggles while you complete the cutting process.
Fixing Kit Application
Depending on the condition of the substrate, you will need to apply a bead of high strength gap filling adhesive around the edge of the stair tread covers, approximately 25mm from the edge. It is recommended that you use a bead of around 6mm. Next, start at the bottom left corner, move across at an angle and then back down again to create a peak and a trough pattern. Repeat this until the entire surface area of the tread is covered. For best results a skeleton gun is recommended to apply the adhesive.
Press the tread onto the substrate to ensure that the adhesive is evenly distributed across the entire surface area. Once in place, the adhesive will set in around an hour.
The final part of the installation process is to drill two holes on each side of the stair tread cover. The first of these holes should be approximately 60mm from the back edge and 50mm from the side. The second hole should be 50mm from the side and 60mm from the edge. If you are working with a larger tread, you may need to add in another fixing point, usually at the centre.
