Riser plates are the ideal finishing touch for all of our full cover GRP treads to create a complete anti-slip solution for any stairway or set of steps. Installed onto the stairs, the riser adds the finishing touches when used in combination with GRP stair tread covers.
This product is suitable for places where aesthetics are important such as nightclubs, restaurants, offices, leisure centres, sports venues and shopping centres.
The riser plates are easy to clean, just use warm soapy water and it requires little to no maintenance when compared with painted risers. Easy to install, you can use a grab adhesive and they are held securely in place with a tread cover.
Our riser plates can be installed quickly and easily, using the adhesive that is supplied with the product.
As with all of our other treads and nosings, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from debris. If the surface is damaged in any way you should make sure it is repaired using a suitable material. Once the underlying surface is free from defects you can begin to dry fit the riser plates. Make sure that they fit freely, and they sit flat on the surface. If required, you may wish to trim them to achieve a better fit. The recommended tools for this task is either a skill saw with a 4mm diamond blade or an angle grinder with a 1mm blade. If you attempt any cutting of the riser plate, make sure that you wear suitable goggles and gloves.
The riser plates should be fitted before you install any stair treads. As with the other products, apply a 6mm bead of high strength, gap filling adhesive around the edge of the riser plates, ideally 25mm from the edge. From the bottom left corner, move at an angle approximately 200mm and then back down again to create a peak and trough pattern. Continue with this until the entire surface of the riser plate is covered with adhesive.
Press the riser plate to the substrate to make sure that there is enough adhesive to form a strong bond. The adhesive should dry in about an hour.
If the substrate is in a particularly poor condition, it is recommended that you also use screws to ensure that the riser plate is completely secure.
