Safety Glow Anti Slip GRP Nosings
- Ex Tax: £12.90
In an environment where it’s dark and you need nosings that are still visible, our safety glow anti slip GRP nosings are the ideal solution. They are quick and easy to install and form an effective visual aid. They absorb light during the day and then they can glow in the darkness for three to four hours.
The nosings have been manufactured through the pultrusion process and crafted from fibreglass GRP. They are incredibly durable and long lasting, and they won’t stretch, warp or swell under any physical stress, change of temperature or as part of everyday wear and tear.
The top layer of the product has been coated with a strong, anti-slip silicon quartz grid which offers excellent levels of grip and can increase safety on stairs and steps. The combination of the colour and glow in the dark technology will significantly improve visibility. A chamfered back edge also offers additional security. Using mechanical fixings, the nosing is easy to install, and it is so flexible that it can be fitted to almost any type of substrate.
To achieve the best results, we recommend that you install the nosings with our standard anti-slip GRP stair nosing fixing kit. One kit will cover 5 x 3000mm of stair nosing.
The condition of the surface is important before you begin, which is why it should be clean, dry and free from debris. If the surface is damaged in any way it should be repaired to achieve a consistent and flat surface.
Once prepared, you need to dry fit the stair nosings to make sure that they fit freely and sit flat down onto the surface. If you need to, you can trim them to achieve a better fit, but if you do it is important you use the right tools. For any cutting task you should use either a 1mm blade angle grinder or a 4mm diamond blade skill saw. Don’t forget to wear safety goggles and gloves as you complete any trimming of the material.
Fixing Kit Application
To secure the nosing firmly in place, you will firstly need to take the high strength gap filling adhesive and apply a 6mm bead around the edge of the stair nosings, roughly 15mm from the edge. Where the nosing is being fitted to carpet or other material you can omit the adhesive section. If you do use any adhesive, you should use a skeleton gun for application.
Once the adhesive has been applied, the panel should be secured firmly to the substrate to make sure that there is a good enough bond between the nosing and the surface. Once secured in place, a firm bond should be established in around an hour.
The installation process is finished by drilling two holes on each side of the stair nosing. The first of these should be approximately 15mm from the edge. When working with larger nosings you might want to include additional fixing points, perhaps at the centre of the tread to give them more strength.
